November 2018 Meeting of the Ashdon Gardening Club
Rodney Tibbs talked about "Restoring a Cottage Garden
Rodney had purchased an old cottage and before he planned out the garden he looked at paintings and other historical media to work out what he wanted it to look like.
Before he could start he had to remove a vast quantity of concrete which the previous owner had appeared to be a fan. There was a rotting fence and a number of unattractive outbuilding and sheds. To add to the difficulties Rodney decided to purchase some additional land which would need a lot of clearing but would ultimatley afford him a very pleasant view of the countryside.
We were supplied with slides showing the progress of the garden, sketches of the layout and the result of a lot of hard work over a number of years. It was a very interesting tale.
